Artifact #1 (3c)
This artifact fully demonstrates my ability to engage students in learning. I was teaching a lesson of reviewing the water cycle and all the components of it. I used a GLAD strategy called the pictorial input chart. For the chart you pre-draw the picture you are wanting with pencil, and then when you go to teach the strategy you have a number of colors that you use to draw the picture and each color coordinates with different vocabulary or important words. The next thing you do is hand out words and pictures to the students. I did this and then gave the students time to converse with their peers about the word or picture they received and then talk about where on the poster it goes and why. Each student was engaged and excited to participate while also learning about the water cycle. I have also attached our learning intentions and success criteria for this lesson. Artifact #2 (3d) This next artifact goes along with my artifact above, I was able to use a text to you worksheet, and a poster for the water cycle. This worksheet provided evidence to my ability to use assessment in instruction. In this worksheet the students had to tell me 3 things they already knew about the water cycle, and then three things they learned about the water cycle. This was able to help me assess the students in their knowledge of the water cycle from the GLAD strategy we completed together as a class. On the poster the students had to recreate the GLAD pictorial input chart that we did as a class. The students needed to include all the important vocabulary words to help explain the water cycle. These assessments were great references to show validity that the students were understanding what I was teaching them. Artifact #3 (3a) The last artifact helps with providing proof that as I am teaching lessons I am able to communicate with students and monitor them throughout the lesson. The artifact are observation notes/emails from my Intern Supervisor from numerous observations she has done. Inside of her observation notes there are comments on how well I monitor the classroom as they are working and also the feedback I give to students during the lesson. This artifact also shows that I am able to model for what I am looking for in the students as well as helping those students that need the extra help. |
