Artifact #1 (4a)
This first artifact is the document link posted above which is a videotape reflection that I completed for my intern class. I videotaped myself teaching a lesson on the water cycle, and then was able to write up a reflection based on questions that was on the worksheet. Actually being able to watch myself on the videotape was very eye opening and helpful for any future lessons. I was able to see the positive things I do but also critique myself and find those areas that I need to improve on. This videotape reflection is a great reference to me to look back on and remember the things I am working on, as well as a constant reminder that we as teachers are always learning and growing in every aspect of our job. Plus it is always good to self reflect on things you are doing to make sure you are doing the best that you can and being able to critique yourself is a good quality to have. Artifact #2 (4c) This next artifact is a picture of the paper work that I helped fill out for parent-teacher conferences in my 3rd grade placement, which shows my ability to communicate with families. These papers are what we went over and talked to the parents about. There were no grades for this parent-teacher conference for the fact that they wanted to make the parents aware of any concern with their child before grades came out so they could help in any way. This was a smart idea that the parents were very accepting of because they can see that we want to see each and every student in the class be successful and help them in any struggling areas. I was also able to run and conduct a kindergarten conference with one parent. During this I was a little nervous but my lead teacher had all the confidence in the world that I would be successful and I was. It was a great feeling and even better experience that will help me communicate with families from here on out in my career. Artifact #3 (4e) The final artifact is the certificate of my certification in the CLA exams that I passed. This certificate shows my enhancement of content knowledge and pedagogical skill to help in my qualification to be a teacher. The ICLA exams have helped me to better understand English language arts and better be able to help in the small workshop reading groups in both my kindergarten and 3rd grade placements. |
